Our Origin

Deedscon Consult (Pty) Ltd is a black-owned engineering consulting company which was established in 2007 as a close corporation to meet the ever-increasing development challenges in the country. It merged with another emerging consulting firm, Nxusani and Associates, and converted to a (Pty) Ltd in 2013 following the promulgation of the new Companies Act of 2008.

The organisation subscribes to the promotion of broad-based economic development and black empowerment ideals of South Africa and aims to contribute to these noble goals by supporting infrastructure, skills and community development in previously neglected communities and development nodes of the country.

The vision of the company is to grow into a reputable firm with adequate expertise to meet the integrated issues of infrastructure, community, skills and economic development in the predominantly rural parts of South Africa and ultimately the SADC region.

The company’s mission is to use its resources and expertise to offer diverse built environment consulting services. This includes development and engineering consulting; project management; technical training and mentorship as well as occupational health and safety services in pursuit of integrated infrastructure, community, skills and economic development in predominantly underdeveloped communities.

Meet Our Directors

Gretta Nozuko Nxusani [Noz]

Chairperson

Ms. Gretta Nozuko Nxusani is an admitted attorney and an industrious entrepreneur who has been a director of her other legal firm for over fifteen years, and was also a director of Nxusani Associates Consulting Engineers, which in now merged with Deedscon Consult. She holds a B.Luris, LLB and Higher National Diplomas in Tax and Insolvency. Noz is very experienced in Commercial Litigation; Contract and Legislative Review; Legal Adjudications; Insolvency and Labour Law. Noz is the chair of Deedscon Consult and is involved in crafting the business strategy of the firm as well as supporting with legal and contract management, business development and organisational capacity building.

Gwarega Dambudzo, [Gwaar]

Managing Director

Mr. Gwarega Dambudzo, [Gwaar], PrEng,(Managing Director) is a qualified and registered professional civil engineer with a Master of Science degree in Water Resources Engineering and Management (WREM) as well as an MBA degree among other qualifications. He has more than fourteen years of experience working for consulting engineering and project management firms, as well as public entities in South Africa. He has been involved in the designing, supervision and project management of municipal and other social infrastructure projects, particularly water, sanitation, roads and stormwater, housing, schools and clinics.

His specialty is the water sector where he is experienced in the overall planning, designing and implementation of water resources and water supply projects. His overall competence include programme and project management of infrastructure projects, technical training and mentorship of emerging contractors as well as performance improvement of both public and private entities. He is accredited for the development and implementation of Labour Intensive Construction Methods, NQF7 as enshrined in the EPWP guidelines and is also actively involved in the development and facilitation of Construction Health and Safety Management Systems on construction sites. During his tenure with other consulting firms, Gwarega was involved in a number of major infrastructure and community development projects across Southern Africa and parts of West Africa. He brings with him a lot of experience in project appraisal, projects audit, feasibility study, designing, implementation-monitoring and project/programme management experience. Gwarega is currently the Managing Director of Deedscon Consult. His main responsibilities include executing the board-approved growth strategy, overall management of the company’s business, providing technical leadership on all projects and ensuring that the company’s values of professionalism, quality, integrity and relationships are honored in the company.

Zilungile Zuma [Zilu]

Operations Director

Ms. Zilungile Zuma [Zilu], (Operations Director) is a qualified and experienced civil engineering technologist with a BTech in Civil Engineering and more than fifteen years of experience in the sector. She has a balanced experience of working for public sector, specifically local government as well as private consulting engineering firms at senior technical and management levels. She has acquired extensive experience in project management and contract administration of municipal and rural infrastructure development projects, including community-based public works programmes and labour intensive construction projects.

Ms. Zuma worked on various projects in the Eastern Cape Province including rural water supply projects, sanitation projects, rural schools & clinics as well as rural gravel roads. She has strong community mobilization and facilitation skills gained over many years of working with communities on infrastructure projects at grassroots levels. She is the current Operations Director of the company.

Our Support Resources (STAFF)

Deedscon Consult has assembled a team of technical professionals who have various skills to meet the business objectives. The company is always alert to identify, attract and retain relevant skills that will fit in the culture and vision of the organization. The company also has working relations with other firms and individuals in similar disciplines who are called upon when it falls short of the required capacity to undertake any project. The firm believes in skills transfer and capacity building hence it also engages services of technical mentors to help it in developing its junior engineers and technicians to achieve the required professional standards and accreditation. Additional resources are engaged on contract basis depending on the workload that the firm will be handling at any given time.
